Led by Mishal Faraz - Coordinator of Well Being Year 9 and Mir Faraz - Head Boy of Primary
On the 17th of February this year, on the occasion of Random Acts of Kindness Day, an initiative called Kindness Online was launched with the pivotal message and slogan “Digital Wellbeing Matters!” With our online and offline worlds getting irrevocably entwined, digital wellbeing is directly linked to our emotional, social , cognitive and even physical wellbeing hence it became all the more important to have an initiative like Kindness Online.
Awareness was spread through assemblies with custom made presentations for the different year groups. A plethora of topics was covered - cyberbulling, striking a balance between time spent online and offline, not linking one's self worth to social media, digital footprint, conscious online posting to name a few. Students were invited to leave their indelible impact on the initiative in form of videos, photos, poems, slogans etc.
Hundreds of students have actively contributed to the initiative. Winchester community members were also asked to sign the Kindness Online pledge - till date the pledge has been taken by more than 4500 individuals. The initiative has been successful in increasing the consciousness for digital wellbeing at Winchester and we hope to amplify the message further in the coming academic year.
