Deputy Head Boy Secondary - Creator of WSGB website - Aarav Pradhan

Leadership is defined by the constant pursuit wanting to be a better person than you were yesterday, and now we take a massive step into the digitalization of leadership. In 2020, we were struck by a global disaster that disconnected our minds from one another, but through some hard work and persistence, we persevered. This website aims to connect all the leaders of the student government along with the students and teachers, inform each other of any important events and celebrate each others achievements and lead this school as proactive and productive leaders. Together, lets work to influence change and show exemplary leadership!

There is something that ALL this has taught us. Yes, it’s taught us hygienic discipline. Yes, it’s taught us that we take our social time for granted. Yes, we have all become zoom-savvy overnight...but most importantly we have mastered resilience. Each one of us have been challenged in at least one major way over the past year. That means we ALL had to sacrifice a little bit of our freedom to fight the uncertain. The Student Government, after all, are still students. We all go through the same trials like everybody else, but with one exception. We have been given a responsibility to stand up for those around us. To create and sustain a positive ripple of change across the entire student body. As leaders of Winchester, it is our duty to ignite hope and inspire perserverance.

Leadership theories have been used as guides for individuals to help them achieve their set out goals. These theories are various schools of thought put forth by researchers and philosophers to explain what it takes to make a leader. Such theories shine light on the elements that can help us cultivate our leadership abilities.
But we need to remember that leadership isn’t dominance, it is a relationship bestowed upon a person whom people place their trust in. Develop yourself in effective zones and practice under the supervision of experienced leadership educators. Follow your own theory and be an example to others.

Head Boy Secondary - Nikhil Karani

Acquiring the exhilarating ability to lead the student government is mesmerizing. This has given me the chance to create a significant difference within our school community, even with unprecedented crises and challenges imposed on us as a global community, I aim to work through this difficult gap and make the best use of resources given to us as individuals living in the 21st Century!

Leadership is all about determination, self- judgement and the willingness to work for others, with others. It is about being brave enough to take the lead and it is also about being confident enough to step back and empower others and see them become the best version of themselves. Above all, a leader leads by example.

In the words of His Highness Sheikh Mohammad bin Rashid Al Maktoum –

“A leader needs to set the example through his humbleness, personal character, shouldering of responsibilities, fairness and objectivity."

Deputy Head Boy Secondary - Parth Siddharth Karnik

To lead by example and be a role model to others is extremely vital, Guiding your team in times of crises, leadership does not just mean to lead but to make the right choices when presented in front of you.
With good leadership, you can create a vision and inspire others to make it a reality. A good leader will always be their best with a team and continue to boost morale to and make their team achieve their highest potential.

Deputy Head Girl Primary - Lisa Sam Abraham

Leadership is a skill we learn. Being a leader doesn’t mean taking charge in every situation, it means finding a way to overcome it in a team. The skill takes selflessness and a sense of teamwork, when you are a leader, you need to know your mistake and find a way to improve the situation. When being a leader you need to think about the people you, are helping and know that every action will have its ups and downs. But when a leader succeeds everybody succeeds with them.
